The Binational Week of Health (SBS), in his eighth version, has turned into one of the biggest mobilizations of community organizations, state and local agencies and volunteers in the country, everything in order to offered the population I access not only to tests and information of health, but also to social resources.
The inciativa began in the 2001 due to the interest of the Mexican government of increasing the level of access to the health of the citizens of this country in the USA. In 2008, at national level more than half a million persons could benefit from the SBS.
His version 2009 will be realized from October 3 until October 15. Doctor Claudia Santamaría, special assistant of the consulate of El Salvador in Woodbridge, GOES; he tells that one of the topics that will have major profile in the SBS will be all the related to the influenza A/H1N1, also known as porcine flu.
“ In this opportunity we will put a special attention to that thing about the flu H1N1, since one hopes that the winter epoch there should be a big cases sprout”, he says.
Other out-standing campaigns are a preparation of emergencies, prevention of addictions and heart attacks, says Daniel Garduño, of the Mexicans' Institute in the Exterior of the Consulate of Mexico in DC.

The fact that the Hispanics are one of the ethnic groups with major diabetes predominance is quite well-known. In this case we speak about the diabetes type 2, which develops with the time, and not about the type 1, which is the caused one by problems of autoimmunity.
But one of the types of this illness, the gestacional, is not so well-known. For it, the National Institute of the Diabetes and the Renal and Digestive Illnesses (NIDDK, for his acronym in English) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), realizes an educational campaign to increase the knowledge level and he is alert on this condition.
The diabetes gestacional happens when a pregnant woman develops this illness. Between three and eight women, of every hundred, present the condition in the country.
