Eight years ago, Paulina Escobar realized that to his work as physical therapist he was lacking something.
Physically, it was doing all the possible to help his patients, but he needed other hardware. It was in this one of that time when to Sweep initiated in Reiki, a skill holística Japanese that helps to canalize energy and to favor sanación processes.
The practice has had a heyday in the last years and it is even used in several local hospitals.
To sweep, who is employed at a center for cancer patients, he says that receiving Reiki helps the patients to escape from the mental and physical stress. “Reiki helps very much to the emotional part of the illness allow to go and to see the whole process of a calmer form”, he says.
Three levels of the Reiki
The first Reiki meeting is of beginning. Here the practitioner increases his aptitude to canalize energy and to favor its own processes. Hence from now on, this person can give a therapy to himself. In the second level, there is received a beginning where it is possible to canalize energy and it is possible to give Reiki to others. It is in this stage where there are received three symbols that Reiki allows to give over a distance, even to persons who are not physically present. How does it work
The first Reiki meeting concentrates on the autosanación. To sweep remembers that so soon he began to practise Reiki with the idea of helping others, it found the force to change his life of a positive way. “Reiki changes a little the life concept to you”, he says to Sweep. “Sometimes the persons receive Reiki to relax or to diminish pains, but they realize that at an emotional and mental level, the things also change.”
In a traditional meeting, which lasts about 45 minute, the person goes to bed, dressed, in a bed of Reiki and the therapist it is putting his hands in different areas of the body. This is done until the therapist is sorry that the energy is harmonized. The therapist serves like an energy channel since there is not the proper energy the one that it is distributing.
Although traditionally the tact is used, it is possible to practise Reiki over a distance with the sight, even it is possible to send him to persons who have already departed from this world, he tells to Sweep.
Reiki is an energy and the practitioners say that the energy has proper intelligence. Really for this reason the whole world can receive the skills, even the children. “The Reiki cannot hurt anybody” is said by him to Sweep. “It can only favor processes since the energy is regulated herself.”
What does the Reiki
At physical level, the Reiki relaxes very much, calms the mind; it calms the body and diminishes the stress. It has been demonstrated that it relaxes the mind, it improves the concentration, develops the imagination and creativity, as well as it favors processes of physical, mental and emotional sanación. It is important to notice that Reiki is a complement for other medical treatments and is practised as a whole on these. It is not recommended to leave these treatments.
It is not a religion
When the public listens on the practice for the first time, very much they confuse it with a religion, but to Sweep, today teacher of Reiki Jin Kei Do, he tells that Reiki is spiritual and does not have any dogma. “Reiki is a universal energy. You put the top source in what you create. If I believe in God, this universal energy comes from God.”

Carolina Hinestrosa was a woman who freed a series of struggles. First against the cancer, illness that attacked it two times and that finally took his life. Also he battled against the health system, especially with the absence of access to treatments and few transparence that exists.
Other one of his struggles was against the absence of knowledge. All these battles forced her to create New Life, the organization that helps Latin women diagnosed with cancer to navigate the health system and that offers groups of support.
Carolina Hinestrosa stopped existing on Sunday, the 21st of June, product of a sarcoma of soft textiles, an extremely aggressive and slightly common cancer that sometimes attacks persons who have been an object of therapies of radiation.
Larisa Caicedo, executive director of New Life, remembered Carolina Hinestrosa as a brilliant person. “She was very dedicated, with an indescribable fortitude and many desire of helping in the correct form”, he says.
One of the forces behind Hinestrosa was his daughter Elizabeth. “His constant phrase was that she wanted a better world for his daughter, free of bosom cancer. In fact, often he was asking and defying the experts, asking them ‘what is what you can do so that my daughter has a better future’”, remembers Caicedo.
Across his work with New Life, Hinestrosa was invited to be part of the National Coalition against the Cancer of Bosom (NBCC, for his acronym in English). There, his mission was to take the voice of the Hispanic ones to panels where there are decided politics of health and guides for treatment. “A few days before his decease, he said to me what so grateful was for the extraordinary opportunities that it had of changing the world across NBCC. We are more grateful than of having had the privilege of having worked with her”, said Fran Visco, president of NBCC.
“ Sometimes it finds it hard to me work to come to the office for the weight of knowing that she is already not with us. The knowledge was always giving me safety that there was someone who knew a little more, who was surviving and who could guide. It left very specific lessons to me, and today I have the calmness that his extract has captured New Life, and this is to help the women to empoderarse, to find service quality, that there is a system of health that is transparent for all the women”, concludes.

Experts of the government say that medicines as the Vicodin and Percocet, which they mix of analgesic with a powerful drug, must be eliminated by his roll in lethal overdoses.
The panel of the Administration of Drugs and Food (FDA for his acronym in English), 20 voted for 17 for the motion that points out that the recipes of medicines that they contain acetaminofeno with other analgesics must be withdrawn from the market.
The FDA assembled this group of experts so that they were recommending ways of limiting the damage to the liver associated with the use of acetaminofeno, one of the drugs most used in the country and the prime mover of hepatic damage, as indicated the federal agency.
The disputants indicated that 60 % of the deaths related to the use of acetaminofeno is for medicines with recipe. Also, this ingredient is in popular remedies, like Tylenol and Excedrin, who can be bought on the counter.
