War antidrug traffickers in Mexico, a shared responsibility

The United States and Mexico have realized that to aim at the accusing finger does not solve the problem and they have resolved to work together, recognizing his responsibilities

The one who has thought that the crisis of the drug trafficking in Mexico is not a problem of the United States, was wrong. The administration of the president Obama left it much in skylight with his new plan to help Mexico to fight the narcoviolencia that it is draining to the country, admitting that it is a part of the problem and that it has to be a part of the solution.

For years Mexico and the United States they have been blaming mutually for the problem of the drugs: the American authorities blame Mexico for being exporters of drugs and Mexico he blames the United States for not controlling the insatiable appetite of drugs of his citizens. But the extreme level of violence to which the lucrative business of the drugs has come has forced an attitude change. Both countries have realized that to aim at the accusing finger does not solve the problem.

Since the president Felipe Calderón assumed the power not long ago more than two years, the struggle against the cartels of the drug has been his biggest priority. Thousands of troops, police officers and federal agents have been opened in 18 states of the country. But the battle has turned into a war that it has stained with blood to dozens of cities and villages of the country.

From January, 2008, at least 7.000 persons have lost the life in slaughters related to the drugs. It is not strange to wake up in cities like Juárez, Tijuana or Monterrey and to find dozens of tied or gagged corpses, with shots to the style execution or still decapitated. There is not doubt that the drug trafficker - violence in Mexico is out of control. And the corruption is still worse inside the government and the agencies entrusted to make to fulfill the laws where the tentacles of the drug trafficking have reached the highest levels.

In his last desperate measurement the Mexican government offered rewards of up to 2 million dollars for information that leads to the arrest of the tallest chiefs of the drug trafficking in the country. A whole of 37 names was published and in less than one day the first one of these traffickers of high level was found and arrested.

The United States feels the effects of the drug trafficker - war. The violence has penetrated the border and one believes that the Mexican cartels of the drug have presence in more than 200 cities of the United States. Pero Estados Unidos cannot already play the victim's role. That's why, in eve of the visit of the State Department, Hillary Clinton, to Mexico, the administration of Obama develó a plan to help Mexico in his war against the drugs.

Proper Hillary Clinton told in an interview with Univisión that she does not consider Mexico to be a threat for the national safety of the United States. "Mexico, like any other country, faces internal criminals threats and especially of the bands and traffickers of drugs. We have had these problems in our own country and I hope that we could help the government and to the Mexican village in his struggle against the cartels of the drug," Clinton affirmed.

The new federal plan developed by the departments of Justice and Safety Interns, tries to duplicate the securities force on the border and the additional mobilization of a significant number of other federal agents, team and other resources.

During his second press conference the president Barack Obama spoke about the topic. "The steps that we have taken are designed to make sure that the frontier communities in the United States should be protected, that a violence waste should not be seen, and that we are helping the Mexican government to fight with a very challenging situation”. But what is more important, Obama admitted that the United States plays an important role in the violence climb. "We need to do more to make sure that illegal weapon and cash should not return to the cartels. Like that it is as they finance his operations. Like that it is as they arm themselves. This is what makes them so dangerous”. In fact, 90 per cent of the weapon used in the narcoviolencia in Mexico come from the United States.

To recognize the responsibility shared with Mexico in his struggle against the drug trafficking raises the bilateral relations between two nearby countries at a new level. Let's hope that the mutual efforts should help to finish the brutal slaughters that have the Mexicans living in a virtual state of siege.
