Are the women the new men?

Into the battle of the genres they are changing the statistics and the attitudes.

No, the women are not the new men. The women have always had the aptitude to do most of the things that the men can do, and better still, in heel shoes. What is new is that finally the people are recognizing the prominent role of the women in our society.
We see it in all the aspects of the life, from the business up to the politics and even the mass media. We see more and more women as executives of big corporations, and more and more women are chosen and designated for high charges in the government. There are more women than men graduating of the university and receiving maestrías.
Nowadays to wonder if this country is ready to see the women in important positions must be considered to be an insult to the collective intelligence of our society. Our role as the only superpower that stays in the world needs a level of ripeness and courteousness where neither the sexual discrimination nor the racism must exist.
Nobody must ask never again if the Supreme Court is ready to have a Latin jueza, for example. The jueza Sonia Sotomayor has demonstrated that a Latin savant has overcome all the adversities and is so capable as any man of applying the laws and interpreting the Constitution. Nobody will ever ask again if our country is ready to have a woman the president. If Hillary Clinton did not gain the democratic nomination it was not because it is not capable of directing the country. And nobody will ask never again if this country is ready to listen to the news on behalf of a woman. The promotion of Diane Sawyer for news presenter in the night in the chain ABC is a sample. Journalists as Katie Couric and others have defied the notion of which the women have no credibility.
The new role of the woman in the society has stood out in these days with the publication of the report “A Women's Nation” prepared by the journalist and the first lady of California Maria Shriver and the Center for the Progress in the United States. The report reveals fascinating information on as the women are changing the face of this country and as these changes not only have an impact in the government, the companies, the institutions of health and education but also in the familiar life.
The report shows that for the first time in the history the number of women is on the point of overcoming the men's quantity inside the labor force. They attribute the phenomenon to the recession and to the fact of which some of the industries that they use principally to men are those who are economically more struck, but also to the changeable role of the women as employed, although we still gain 78 cents of dollar compared to the men.
Some experts predict that when the current economic tendency should be invested the things will change and the men will be the biggest labor force of the country again, but the report of Shriver rejects this theory showing that in 63 per cent of the hearths in the United States the women are already the principal providers or co-providers and that 70 per cent of the men are comfortable with the idea of that the woman works out of house.
The women are not the new men. The men still lack very much to be able to achieve the many-sided skills that we have the women. But there is no doubt that in the battle of the genres, they are changing the attitudes. And it is an hour that the expectations and the responsibilities both in the house and in the office are re-examined. The young people nowadays is lucky to live in an epoch in which so many women have opened the way to them so that some day they take the place that is deserved in the society.
