The mayor of the District of Columbia, Adrian Fenty enjoyed a lively meeting for the opening of the Month of the Hispanic Heredity, on Tuesday, the 15th of September. Surrounded by members of the “Mariachi music The Monarches”, the burgomaster posed with the typical peasant hat and Life greeted the grandpas of the center. The celebration realized in The Historical Society of Washington and it was in charge of Holiday DC, and the Office of Latin Matters of the Mayor (WAVE, for his initials in English).

In answer to a series of antiimmigrant speeches that promote the racial hate, a group of leaders of faith gave themselves appointment in the staircases of the Acropolis to express his rejection against the injustices towards the immigrants.

The Salvadoran community has turned into the biggest third population group between the Hispanics in the United States, but at the same time his leaders consider that lacking representation at level of federal government. Thanks to the opportune intervention of a police officer of Fairfax (Virginia), there was arrested a man to whom one accuses of having attacked and tried to kidnap a young woman, using a cutting weapon.

The most recent fact took place on Sunday, the 13th, about 7:00 p.m., in the block 2000 of North Quince Street, Arlington. A 32-year-old woman was going to the whereabouts of the bus when a stranger described as “white Hispanic” of approximately 25 years, him approached behind and took it pressing the neck with one of his arms. The victim defended herself and the two fell down to the apartment; then, the attacker tried to use an electronic device to make her meaningless, but the device did not work.
