| Resolutions establish that they will not deny services to the undocumented immigrants. |
The city of Alexandria in Virginia and Frederick's county in Maryland they joined this week to the county of Arlington and to the District of Columbia on having approved resolutions that protect the rights of the immigrants and establish that it is not a task of the local governments to make to fulfill federal immigration laws.
In case of Alexandria, the council of the city approved the resolution unanimously, while in Frederick the voting was scolded and a victory was achieved with three affirmative votes and two in against.
In his resolution the city of Alexandria highlights that his commitment is to support the diversity inside his community and they affirm that the city will keep on making sure that “all the persons equally inside the limits of the city have right to be protected by the law and that the roll of the local government is to provide health services and safety to the community in general”. In the same way it establishes that “it is not a task of the local or state governments to assume federal responsibilities on the immigration law more than to expire with his local obligations like doing that there are respected the tributary, clear laws and commercial regulations”.
The resolution of the city of clearly express Alexandria that the city and his agencies neither will investigate they will not even bring on the legal status of all those persons who should look for protection of the laws of the city or should use his services, except for those where the state or the federal government have always needed test of legal presence.
With this announcement the resolution reaffirms the current politics of the city which expires with all the federal and state laws related to immigration, including those services that to be eligible it is necessary to fulfill with the requisite of presenting test of legal presence. The city yes will chase all the persons who represent a threat for the safety for having committed crimes and will verify the migratory status then to transfer it to the appropriate authorities as the law has always stipulated it.
“ Our resolution is an extension of what we have been doing like government of a city in long time. Alexandria is an affectionate community. We value our diversity and we are proud to treat each one with dignity and respect”, said the mayor of Alexandria, William D. Euille.
In Frederick
With regard to the exact voting in Frederick one managed to annul a proposal that was trying to deny services to the undocumented immigrants, but yes there were approved unanimously resolutions where it is done called the Congress and the Legislative Assembly of Maryland so that once and for all they reform the immigration politics.
The resolutions are sustained in that the rapid flow of the immigrant community is provoking social tensions in Frederick and causes expenses to the local government, after interpreters have to hire in Spanish, as well as on having had to teach English in the schools to those students who speak Spanish.
Across this resolution the members of Frederick's council recommend to the senators and delegates of Maryland to submit a project of law that he considers to be these aspects in the next legislative meeting 2008.
