Maryland cuts budget away in 300 million dollars

With the idea of creating a local agenda that guides the work in the prevention of the VIH/Sida, there was celebrated the Latin National Day of Campaign to raise public awareness of the virus on Wednesday, the 15th.
The principal activity organized by the Washington DC Aids Coalition and Metropolitan Latino Aids, was carried out in All Souls Church of DC, to which activists attended, persons who live with the virus, officials related to the clinical attention and medical service managers.
The assistants happened to shape four tables to meet on the local priorities. These were divided in leadership, epidemiology, access to health and prevention. First, it was recommended to use of better way the mass media. Then, to involve patients and a half along with churches and schools in the education to eliminate to the stigma in the community.

According to Carlos Soles, specialist of capacities of the Federal Office of Health of the Minorities, the event was important because “the community has taken conscience and she knows that the leadership is important to look for a common agenda. It is a pride to see them thinking about how to be more effective in this work”.
Catalina Sol, director of the Program of VIH/Sida of The Clinic of the People (LCDP), said that “part of the problem that we have had in the past is that we have done very ambitious agendas and then there have not been persons or resources that could carry out it. That's why we are focusing in realistic goals for a period of 12 months”, he said.

Guillermo Chacón, vice-president of the Latin Commission of the AIDS, said that “Catalina Sol personalizes the hope in the struggle against the virus for his commitment, dedication, vision and professionalism.
