For student's murder in hooligans' hands

Community asks the authorities of Montgomery for justice

Thai Lam, the murdered student.

Before a crammed auditorium shaped by family parents, teachers and pupils, where tension and deep pain was breathed by the murder of a school unpaid trainee to hands of a hooligan, the principal authorities of Montgomery (Maryland) promised to reinforce the safety and the alertness in the whole county.
It was in a community meeting that Blair Montgomery was carried out the night of Monday, the 10th in the secondary school, nine days after the crime happened inside a bus of the public service of transport “On Ride“.
About 11:00 p.m. of Saturday, the 1st, after a discussion between two groups who were traveling in the vehicle, several young people descended and then they re-entered for the later door, where one of them extracted a gun and shot at close range. Three adolescents were hurt, and one of them – 14-year-old Thai Lam and of origin Vietnamese - died soon in the hospital. Two survivors – one of them Hispanic - managed to recover and they were already discharged.
In one of the moments more dramatists of the community Monday meeting, the Executive of the county, Isiah Leggett, accompanied by the chief of the Department of Police officer of Montgomery, Tom Manger, gave the condolence to the mother, the sister, the grandmother and other relatives of the family Lam, there present, who crying and with tenuous voice only they demanded justice.
The appointment there was organized on the initiative of the councilman Valerie Ervin by the school Blair Montgomery and the department of Health and Human Services of the county, together with diverse community organizations.
In the course of the assembly, the public did long lines to announce his justice demand and to present suggestions. Several family parents asked “why the police officers do not rise to the buses of the public service occasionally”, to protect the safety of the passengers.
Manger answered that was going to consider the idea, which in the first instance he considered to be excellent.
Another neighbor proved to be missed by the fact that the bus where the murder was committed did not have alertness cameras. The director of transports of the county answered that the above mentioned vehicle was one of the few ones of the service “On Ride“ that was not possessing them, but he added that it had already got ready to finance this type of cameras in the totality of the buses of the public service.
For his part, the chief of the police reported on the arrest of 20-year-old Héctor Mauricio Hernández, which is accused by the death of Thai Lam. Also, he said that there are two fugitives identified like Gilmar Leonardo Rosemary, of 20 years, and 30-year-old Mario Ernesto Milán-Canales.
“ In accordance with the preliminary investigations, the three are members of the band MS-13”, indicated Manger, who asked for the collaboration of the citizenship to arrest the runaways.
Darryl Williams, the director of the secondary school Blair Montgomery, highlighted the trajectory of Thai Lam. “He was a student with honors, much wanted by all”, he said.
The pupils of the school cadre presented a video, in which they announced his testimonies of solidarity with the family of the murdered classmate.
At the end of the meeting all the presents shared an emotive wakefulness, along with a brief with burning sails and memories of the partner of classrooms tragically eliminated.

With more personal and better teams

Virginia and DC prepare themselves for the arrival of the snow

The District of Columbia and Virginia they have invested in more teams and new technologies to face the period of snow and low temperatures.

The city of Washington, DC, and the state of Virginia they announced the employment of new technologies, the use of better teams and the hiring of more personal to face the snow period in the region and this way to avoid accidents and Dantesque transport congestions.
The mayor of Washington DC, Adrian Fenty announced that in this period they will duplicate the number of trucks removedores of snow that they will be in the highways compared to last year.
“ 33 of the new vehicles are ready to cover the streets and are provided with a device that allows to raise the snow in a major quantity”, said Fenty.
This way the District will stop using the small trucks them to replace for bigger that they will be able to clean a major snow quantity, but at the same time it pointed out that they will assign the ancient trucks so that they cover the narrowest streets in the local communities.
The new team there joins a redistribution of the city split into smaller and manageable routes. Also there has been added an additional shift of chauffeurs of trucks removedores of snow.
“ This year the city will have three work shifts to offer a continuous service in case of presenting to him a thunderstorm of snow of a widespread way”, Added Fenty.
As last year the coordinator of snow of the District, Robert Marsili, said that they will use juice of beet which will be mixed by the salt for the treatment of the streets and highways.
The District of Columbia also is investing 40.000 dollars to train to the operators of the vehicles with the help of new technologies like the trucks employment simulators.
In Virginia
For his part, the Department of Transport of Virginia (VDOT, for his initials in English) showed this week the new trucks that will be used to treat the highways. The new vehicles will take a liquid solution with 'brine' salt and magnesium to spray the highways as a skill to prevent from coming to the freezing point due to the low temperatures, generally below 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
“ In the past we were waiting until now in that the precipitation was taking place. Now we will take action to avoid critical conditions in bridges, ramps, principal highways before a thunderstorm takes place or should lower the temperature to a freezing point”, made sure Branco Vlacich, engineer of maintenance of the district for the North of Virginia of VDOT.
This skill that consists of preparing the streets and highways of an early way was used in the District of Salem in Virginia and in capacity limited in Maryland.
These new measurements to face the low temperatures were analyzed after last night in February when the temperatures went down to the freezing point and caused a series of accidents and congestions of traffic that obstructed the principal routes per hours.
It is alerted to the drivers to stay removed from the trucks when they are spraying the chemical solution because it is possible to stick in the cars and it is very difficult to clean it in contrast to the salt regularly used.

The Colombian consul corroborated that many of his connacionales are afraid to the record because they think that they can be exposed to some type of hardship on behalf of the migratory authorities.
“ I make use of this opportunity to show the Colombians who should not have any fear; on the contrary, this is a mechanism that does not generate any type of countermeasures in his migratory status, and also it is a way of knowing where they are and to what they devote themselves to be able to help them when the case like that deserves it”, he noticed.
Against the "Bullying"

“ Like Latin Americans we must impel in the public schools a project where the people concientice so that the violence is not allowed in the classrooms, because often not only it damages the child but also the family”, he underlined.
Intelligent head office
Aldana Bull recognized problems in the telephone communication in the consulate after his charge, which does not have the sufficient personnel to attend to all the calls, but he announced that to correct this difficulty there have been hired the services of a Head office of Intelligent Attention, where the first in Spanish and then in English the options will be offered to him, to the persons who call, to gain access easily to the diverse consular services and to the consultancy of his connacionales before any urgency.
