The man accused of drowning his three minor children in a tub of the bath of the room of a hotel in Baltimore (Maryland) surprised the whole court when standing and looking at the judge he said: "I plead guilty”, on Wednesday, the 14th.
With these brief words, Mark Castillo, now of 43 years, accepted his full responsibility in the horrible triple crime that it frightened to the whole metropolitan region at the end of March, 2008.
Castle born in the USA but of Mexican ancestry, it was sentenced on the same Wednesday, the 14th to three “consecutive life imprisonments” – one for every murder - without right to conditional freedom.
The judge of the Court of Baltimore, Wanda K. Heard, suggested that the parricide – who has a history of mental illnesses and suicidal tendencies but that lately has turned into an assiduous reader of the Bible - to be sent to the Institute Patuxent, a psychiatric service of maximum safety.
On March 30, 2008, Mark Castillo walked with his three children, Anthony, Austin and 6, 4 and 2-year-old Athena, respectively, them taking to the Center of Sciences Maryland, in Baltimore. In his opportunity, she had denounced that Castle threatened her to kill the children. Nevertheless, the judge did not believe it and allowed the man to keep on visiting and gathering from time to time three children.
