Students deliver funds to qualify in technical careers

Governor of Virginia promotes the education for the XXIst century

Tim Kaine, governor of Virginia converses with a few students in Arlington Career Center.

Now the students of the secondary schools of Arlington will have in his hands the possibility not only of graduating on having reached his four years of studies but of obtaining also a professional certification that allows them to enter to the labor field of the XXIst century.
The Meeting of Education of Virginia (VBOE, for his initials in English) approved recently the establishment of the first Academy of Technical Careers of the Governor who will develop in Arlington Career Center.
This is possible thanks to a fund delivered by the National Association of Governors (NGA, for his initials in English) and the work as a whole between the public schools of Arlington and the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC, for his initials in English). To do delivery of the fund there came the governor of Virginia, Tim Kaine accompanied by representatives of other states, who covered the facilities of the center of technological careers and conversed with the students.
The Academy of Technical Careers of the Governor was established to integrate professional training with a rigorous currícula based on science, technology, engineering and mathematics known as STEM, for his initials in English. Career Center of Arlington received the first fund which will be used to implement the program, which will serve in the first moment to 30 students during the autumn. When the academy is implemented completely it will be in aptitude to serve to 600 students. The technical careers will develop in five fields: engineering and technology, technology of the audio, video and movies, sciences of the health, computer support and of services and maintenance of mobile teams.
At the beginning of January the governor Timothy Kaine announced that the public Arlington schools had been selected to receive one of six state funds to implement the first “Academy of the Governor”.
The fund consists of 20.000 dollars for the implementation more an additional one for 100.000 dollars across a program approved by the Meeting of Education and the State Council of Higher education.
The model of the academy fulfills with the expectations and the vision of the superintendent of education of the public schools of Arlington (APS, for his initials in English), Dr. Robert Smith and of the president of NVCC, Dr. Bob Templin.
“This academy comes very well with the type of direction that we are considering and I believe that the public Arlington schools with the big experience that it has administering programs STEM and his diversity in the student body it will serve very well like model so that then it is possible to answer in any other place”, expressed the superintendent of the public schools.
For the students interested by this program they can communicate with the advisers in his schools or across the web page www.apsva.us/STEM

Proposal happens now for his debate in the Senate

They approve historical recovery plan

The president Barack Obama, accompanied by the Secretary of Press of the White House, Robert Gibbs (right), greets in Capitol Hill after meeting senators and republican representatives, on Tuesday, the 27th.

The House of Representatives controlled by democrats approved the night of Wednesday, the 28th a historical plan of economic stimulus for 819.000 million dollars, on what an early legislative victory met to the presidency of Barack Obama.
Obama has worked eagerly the economic topics that have dominated the first days of his government, which inherited an economic crisis without comparison from the Big Depression of the decade of 1930.
The voting of 244-188 in the Lower House sent the proposal to the Senate, where one hopes that the debate should begin this Monday, the 2nd, with a parallel project of law that has already come taking form. The democratic leaders have promised to have the ready legislation so that Obama promulgates it in the middle of February.
" This recovery plan will save or create more than three million new work places in the next years", affirmed the president in a widely used bulletin moments after the voting in the Lower House.
Hours earlier, Obama said that the United States was "in a dangerous moment" and "there is no moment to be lost", while the legislators were hurrying to defend his expositions on the worst economic crisis from the Big Depression.
With the unemployment at his highest levels in the last 25 years, the banking swaying in spite of the infusion of amazing sums of money of a plan of financial rescue and the states fighting to finance his budgets, the democrats support that the legislation is necessary, while the republicans criticize it because they believe that it remains short in fiscal exemptions and contains too much public expenditure.
Measurements without precedents
The president said that it comprises the skepticism on the size of the bundle of stimulus, "reason for which this recovery plan will include measurements without precedents who will allow to the American people to do that my administration realizes". It indicated that his fellow citizens will be able to give him pursuit to the expense in a new place in the Internet: www.recovery.gov.
The legislation includes approximately 544.000 millions of dollars in federal expenses and 275.000 millions in taxes clippings for individuals and companies. Also it provides money for the construction of highways and the massive transit.
The axis of the fiscal reductions stipulates a clipping for 500 dollars for the single workpeople and of 1.000 dollars for the couples.
" Another week than we take a long time they are another 100.000 or more unemployed persons. I believe that we do not want that in our consciences", there argued the democratic representative David Obey, who directs the Committee of Allocations of the Lower House and one of the principal authors of the legislation.

President would consider to veto regulation of the ICE

Aunt's case of Obama might generate benefit

Zeituni Oyango of 56 years is a half a sister of the dad of the president Barack Obama and it came from Kenya in search of asylum.

The case of the paternal aunt of the president Barack Obama, Zeituni Oyango, who received a deportation order four years ago to to refuse the asylum and it remains in the United States like undocumented, not only it turned into a controversial topic during the political campaign of the current president, but also a precedent might sit as for coming from the migratory authorities in the cases of arrest and deportation of an immigrant without legal status.
And, the fact is that days before to the election of Obama the Department of Internal Safety (DHS, for his initials in English) imposed a new regulation that it was establishing that the immigration officials had to request authorization before the authorities of high status of the ICE – the directors and vice the directors - to carry a detention and later deportation out. This new order entered validity immediately from his announcement last October 31, but then some weeks after the Obama election, on November 26, the Department of Internal Safety decided to cancel it.
On having gone out to the light, this information thanks to an investigation realized by the news agency AP made to suppose that this starting and cancellations of regulations in acting of members of the ICE in a little time only were realized to avoid the deportation of 56-year-old Zeituni Oyango, what had had serious political implications and in the mass media, what might have affected the Obama election.
Obama might consider the veto
According to the news way, under the Law of Libertad de Información they requested to the Department of Internal Safety a copy of the board, which they received two months later. The new board called “Fugitive Case File Vetting Prior to Arrest” was cancelled some weeks after the Obama election, as he informed the ICE across an internal e-mail last Monday. According to the news agency in the copy that they received there is ever mentioned either the president Obama, nor to any member of his family.
A spokeswoman of the ICE, Kelly Nantel pointed out to the informative way that the new board continued in validity and that the White House informed last Sunday that Obama might consider to be the veto.
Thank you aunt
With these actions of the ICE a gap was created between November 26 and December 17, date in which an immigration judge detained the order of deportation of Oyango. During this period of time the Obama aunt might have been arrested and deported, but it did not happen.
The latter decision of the judge allowed to Oyango, to be present at the Obama swearing-in in company of his lawyer, last Tuesday, the 20th of January, but apparently it did not have direct contact with the president. Oyango is in expectation of a hearing before an immigration judge next April 1 in Boston, then that last December 30 a judge was re-opening his case of request of asylum. At present it is known that the Obama aunt lives in Cleveland and works in the field of public health.
