On December 30, 2008 he conquered the reinscription period for the Salvadorans protected by the Status of Temporary Protection (TPS, for his initials in English), but those that did not do it for any reason of force majeure like illness, lack of money as loss of the work or disinformation has the possibility of preserving his legal status in the United States under the Claúsula of Exception of the Good Cause.
For it the government of El Salvador has committed itself in helping of form free and personalized to all the Salvadorans who resort to this cover across his 16 consulates in the whole country. The Salvadorans protected by the TPS, but who lost the reinscription period will have to present papers that it justifies why they could not reinscribirse. It will be a decision of the official of the Office of Immigration and Citizenship (USCIS, for his initials in English) the one that will decide if he accepts or not the reinscription at the wrong time.
“ There are great the dates that manage in the topic of the TPS and it is important that the Salvadorans understand it. Those that have not presented his reinscription request must do it as soon as possible because but they are unprotected legally and are subject to be deported”, he said to Washington Hispanic, Carmen Tobar taken charge of business matters of the embassy of El Salvador in Washington DC.
Last March 9 he conquered the migratory protection for those protected by the fifth extension of the TPS. What is still current is the green card because the American government extended it for six more months – until September 9 - but this document does not offer migratory cover.
“ Many persons believe that the green card is a card of identification and it is only for labor effects and does not represent legal cover. A Salvadoran can have current green card, but if hast ahoy it did not present his reinscription request they can deport it”, affirmed Tobar.
The interested Salvadorans in finding out what options they have not to remain unprotected can call to 1-888-3011-130 óal (202) 387-4766 or visit the Migratory Legal Office in Washington DC or the most nearby consulate – in the area there is one in DC and other in Woodbridge-.

After an intense battle the governor of Virginia, Timothy Kaine signed a law that he prohibits to smoke in bars and restaurants, joining the struggle against the harmful consequences of the consumption of cigarillos and of those that for circumstances foreign to his will turn into victims of the second-hand smoke.
This new legislation has been considered to be ironic if it is taken into consideration that Virginia is the state historically and traditionally tobacco grower. Without going very far until the middle of the XXth century the tobacco was the base of the economy of the state. Also in Richmond there finds the factory located Phillip Morris that the cigarillos Marlboro and Virginia Slim produces. With the approval by both cameras and the signature of the governor who turns it into law he remained demonstrated that there could more the reasons of health and of the quality of life of the residents of the state instead of the economic interests.
The new law considers a series of exceptions for clubs provados and certain restaurants that should be provided with rooms or areas exclusively for smokers, but that should be provided with a system of independent ventilation.
The legislation will enter validity from December 1 and it includes protections both for the owners and for the personnel. The business proprietors will not be able to force his workpeople to serve to atiendan to clients inside the smokers' area, also there will have to be considered to be new rules which will be supervised by the inspectors of the Department of Health of Virginia.
“ This is a reasonable and necessary measurement of public health it has been one of my priorities for several years. I appreciate the interest and the dedication of legislators and activists who worked untiringly to achieve this fruit. I am extremely proud to be a part of the coalition that did this day a reality and on having put my signature in this big step for the sake of the public health of Virginia”, expressed the governor Kaine.
With this law Virginia joins the 23 states of the nation that are provided with a similar regulation, between them Maryland and Washington DC.
