As part of the celebrations for 30 anniversary of the program YouthBuild more than 100 taking part young people of the different regions of the country took part of a day of community service in National Mall and gave the welcome to the First Lady, Michelle Obama, who indicated to be very proud on having been a witness of the voluntary work that they realize in favor of his communities. The young people constructed the bases of a house "green" or ecological that will serve as model and explained to the First Lady the new skills on the ecological construction and the conservation of the environment.

The Department of Housing and Community development decided to cancel the funds for a million dollars that annually it grants to eight base organizations in the District of Columbia being the Latin Corporation for the Economic Development (LEDC, for his initials in English) that serves to the Hispanic community, one of the most affected. “With the deficit in the budget of the District of Columbia that is estimated amount to 800 million dollars they are trying to cut funds away throughout.

Annually LEDC receives across these funds 230.000 dollars administered under the Development program of Small Business. With this money LEDC it offers education, training and attends with loans to persons of the community who think about how to initiate or improve a business.
“ For the prompt thing in LEDC we are going to try to support four professionals in the training of small business with our own funds”, tells Manuel Hidalgo.
Since the program LEDC was created he has invested 465.850 dollars in loans to proprietors of small business and they have trained 288 local investors.
Other one of the initiatives of LEDC that has favored the managerial community in the District of Columbia is the creation of Place First DC that it assembles to 124 local business who are working as a whole to turn into "green" establishments that go of the hand with the conservation of the environment, as well as also they have created a collective market that allows them to lower his expenses and increase his profit.
“ In these moments of crisis where for what one looks is to encourage the economy it turns out to be counter-productive to cut the funds destined for programs that they help to the small business.
