More than 300 adolescents took part in a “Meeting of Latin Girls of Girl Scouts” that was realized in the Center Pryzbyla of the Catholic University, in DC, on Monday, the 6th. The target of the meeting was to encourage the academic success and to promote the opportunities of student scholarships, to reduce the dropping out index. There were programmed classes of teasing, yoga (in the photo, with the teacher Debbie Feathers), golf, martial arts and Latin kitchen, together with chats of the organization “Power Mentors“, which supports 58.000 girls and 4.500 troops of girl scouts in the capital of the nation.

The mayor of the District of Columbia, Adrian M. Fenty, and the governor of Maryland, Martin O'Malley, agreed to join efforts to improve the public safety across his common border. The measurement thinks about how to reinforce the coordination between the authorities of both jurisdictions, thinking that many suspects of criminal acts cross the limits in one or another direction to avoid to be brave.

During the current period of legislative meetings in Maryland, O'Malley also proposed a legislation that allows the exchange of records of the Juvenile Court of Maryland with other states and the District of Columbia, as well as with other state and federal agencies.

Good news comes for the young people: Rosetta Stone – specializing organization in teaching English - announced his first program of scholarships, called “Communicate and Connect Scholarship”, directed to students who are in his last year of secondary school, which they have learned English as the second language (ESL) and which they graduate in the spring of this year.
The maximum total of the scholarships is of US$ 3.000, that they will serve so that those who obtain them invest it in the first year of his university life. How can they gain access to the scholarship? Simply the interested young people will have to write an essay on how the fact of learning English impressed or changed his life. The deadline to present the essay is May 15.
The participants will have to present his essay in 500 words or less. The winning essay will be selected according to the merits that there reaches the history of his learning of English and the quality of the writing.
