On July 4, Day of the Independence of the United States, there is celebrated the agreement with which in 1776 thirteen colonies that were fighting against the colonizing kingdom, Great Britain, declared his independence. The nation that was born of this declaration was the United States of America. For all that we are immigrants in this big nation it represents what says the Declaration of Independence: the right to life, to the freedom and to the happiness, the right to have hope. A place where the immigrants we can advance in our wishes and hopes and make the called American dream real.
Precisely one of the most important symbols that represents all this hope for the immigrants is the monument of The Statue of the Freedom in New York; a gift of the French people to commemorate the first 100 years of the Independence of the United States. From his opening in 1886, it was the first thing that the European immigrants saw when they came to American territory after crossing the Atlantic Ocean. A vision that represents a better life, a symbol of freedom that opens the arms for new opportunities, not only for the thousands of European immigrants who crossed the Atlantic Ocean, but for all the million immigrants that we have come from four points of the compass and that we shape the big ethnic mosaic of our country.
This weekend of July 4 also has turned into the celebration of “An Immigrants' Nation”, a representative date in which approximately six thousand persons originated from different countries where they left his hearth, receive his respective naturalization in half a hundred of ceremonies that are realized the length and breadth of the national territory. There is granted them the opportunity for which so much they have fought, that of becoming American citizens.
This July 4, in 233 anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America, Washington Hispanic invites them to celebrate the opportunity that we all have of dreaming, to re-live with the same force through the illusion that brought them to this big nation that now receives them, to celebrate the right to live hopefully, to be happy and to reach everything what is proposed. Let's fight to live in this big nation, with peace, freedom and hopes. Let's do it for the presents and the future generations.

Rasalynn Trujillo dreams in a future of helping children with impediments. Sankin Barjolo wants to study mechanical engineering. Until two years ago this sleep seemed almost impossible for this young people of scarce resources, but now, thanks to the higher institute of learning Don Bosco Christ King, these goals are more to his scope.
To two years of his opening, the catholic school located in Takoma Park, Md, it has achieved that more than 100 young people recognizes his potential.
Recently it got the Award of Youth of Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce for his contribution to the community.
The school takes as a mission to help young people of scarce resources to obtain an education that prepares them for the university.
22 schools exist Don Bosco Rey about the country and, in them, 99 per cent of the students who graduate are accepted to the university, fulfilling this way the goal of the young institution, where 45 per cent of his students are of Hispanic origin.
Don Bosco is not like any other academic institution. To help to pay his registration, the students it unites seed drill one day a week in a company of the community. This way they pay 63 per cent of his studies. The families pay up to $ 2,500, depending on his economic revenue. Rest of money comes from scholarships and private donations.
“ The school is to the service of the families with limited income”, says Alice Bodanella, executive director of the program of work and study.
To the students the economic level of the family is evaluated to them, as his notes and assistance of intermediate school. If they qualify, they are interviewed to evaluate his ripeness. “One asks very much the students for him”, ”says Bodanella. “They have days and longer school years, in addition to which they have to work one day a week. Many ripeness is needed to do this.”
For Trujillo, of 15 years, the decision to choose the school was simple. He knew that he wanted a catholic education, but his parents could not pay it. When he listened to Don Bosco, the decision was obvious. “When I listened that I would be paying part of my education I said to myself ‘This really might help my parents’”, said the young woman, who is employed at a lawyers' office.
Bodanella tells that working has given to the students more confidence in the lounge of classes. “We have pupils who when it began the school year were not speaking, but so soon they were valued for the office, they began to take part”, he says.
Raquel Ortíz, who teaches Spanish, has noticed these positive changes. He says that he is astonished when it thinks that the children are motivated to learn on its own history, by what the curriculum needed from Spanish is designed so that the Hispanic students learn on his fatherlands.
“ It is necessary to find a balance between being from here and of there”, says Ortíz, who is also a daughter of emigrant parents.
The school will add the third year this next school semester. When the first class graduates in 2011, the institution will have capacity for 500 students, who need an employment in the local companies. For more information about his corporate program, visit www.donboscocristorey.org.
