In the frame of the celebrations for 45 anniversary of the national program of education and training for young people Job Corps, the work secretary, Hilda Solís visited one of the head offices located to the southeast of DC.
During the trip for the center, Hilda Solís shared with the young students and highlighted the importance of being provided with a labor force prepared to face the difficult economic situation and the new challenges of the XXIst century.
Job Corps is the biggest program at national level that serves to young people in risk between 16 and 24 years across classes inside the classrooms, practices and trainings inside the real labor field. This way the young people learns the skills necessary to turn into a productive and well stipendiary labor force. The participants can obtain his certification GED up to acquiring an instruction in more than 75 disciplines in the field of the construction, maintenance, computing, finance, care of the health, hotel trade, gastronomy, between other specialties. The program also helps the eligible participants to deposit the college thanks to alliances with the local college and offers the same resources completely free for those who are learning the English language.
Job Corps is administered by the office of the secretary of the Department of Work and he is provided with 122 centers in the whole United States. The national program Job Corps started on August 20, 1964 as part of the initiatory “Grand Society” of the president Lyndon B. Johnson.
