In 1968 the president Lyndon B. Johnson obtained authorization of the American Congress to proclaim one week of September as “National Hispanic Heritage Week”, or seven days that would serve to celebrate activities tied to the Hispanic legacy and so that the entire country remembered the above mentioned historical and cultural heredity.
Eight years later, and in order to encourage the participation, the president Gerald R. Ford asked the schools and other organizations them to take part thoroughly in the above mentioned week of homage to the Hispanic heredity
