In the twilight of his lives, tens persons of the third age find a smile and a friendly hand, and break with the routine solitude that sometimes invites them to the depression.

In the coloring and happy ambiences of the center of adults' care “Rainbow“ ("Rainbow"), they verify that they are not alone and that there are many days ahead to increase his knowledge, to develop his skills and to have good moments of recreation.
And there we observe them being present at workshops of manual arts, dance and singing. Also they take part in different games of lounge, like bingo, dominoes, letters … and even they go shopping, for which the transport is facilitated to them.
Also, they receive basic medical attention, like physical therapy, periodic control of the weight and the blood pressure and inclusive mobility is provided to them to take them from his houses to the center and also for his health consultations.
If it was small, there are prepared for them different hotpots of the Latin meal, “so that they do not miss the flavors of his fatherlands”.

“There the photographer comes!”, they exclaim several of them on having seen us coming, while they consume his food at the time of the lunch. They are more than 40 persons those who are in this ambience, which ages range between the 65 and 90 years. There is good number of persons of Central American and South American origin, proceeding from Guatemala, El Salvador, Peru, Brazil, between other nationalities.
Red Yajaira, director of Public relations of the "Rainbow", tells that this place can be typified rather “like a center of recreation, health and society for major adults”. “ They develop different activities, from dance, singing and manual arts, and also they take part in diverse games of entertainment as well as in walks to the different shopping centers of the area”, he affirms, while it covers the ambiences of the center, located in 8400 of Helgerman Court, in Gaithersburg (Maryland).

“ This place – he tells Red - was founded 7 years ago to attend to Latin Americans of the third age, and at present it shelters half a hundred of persons of this origin; and also to approximately 180 Russians and recently to several residents of Asian origin”.
Further on, it points out that “Rainbow“ is not an asylum or an elders' refuge, “it is rather an adults' kinder”.
“ Thanks to the programs organized for this group of major adults, they manage to be liberated of the depression that causes the solitude”, it expresses Red, satisfied.
Also, the center offers attention to two special children, who have turned into the conceited ones of the biggest adults.
They celebrate “America opening day“
This Saturday, the 25th, from 2:00 p.m., “Rainbow Adult Day Care Center” has programmed an allusive activity to the "America opening day", with presentations of dance and singing to which there are invited the members of the community of Maryland.
91-year-old Benjamín Molina and of Peruvian origin, proved to be very satisfied and been grateful for the visit of Washington Hispanic to the center and of step he invited to the event “to all the Hispanics who want to enjoy”.
How to register
The biggest adults who want to take part of the activities of the "Rainbow" must fill the following requisites:
To be retired.
To live in Maryland.
To have card of
medical care (red or white).
Also the biggest 18-year-old disabled persons qualify.
