Over everything frightening and horrifying that proved to know the double murder committed by a woman against two of his adopted daughters, it is necessary to reflect and to wonder on the fund of this case: Was it possible to avoid the deaths? Were adopted all the forecasts fitted to the law?
We add to it two aspects that we consider to be very important: Are sure the countless children and young people delivered in adoption? and: is it necessary that a private agency, as it happens at present, is in charge of receiving and checking the requests of the persons who want to be qualified like adoptive parents?
The answer is in hands of the specialists and of the proper agencies of childhood and the family of the District of Columbia – implied straight in this case - and of the surrounding counties in the whole metropolitan area of Washington, DC.
As a DC councilman warned on having known this tragedy that has upset us to all, “we need to know if that one or other persons are really qualified to turn into adoptive parents”. |

The crime to which we allude must serve to us as lesson. But, the authorities should not wash its hands with the argument that the above mentioned woman expired with all the stipulated requests. Then: how is it that newly they find out that his financial situation was incompatible with the guarantees of responsibility that it should have to protect a new member of the family, three in this case? Why did not they have to hand any precedents, which were indicating his violent attitudes? Why was not a pursuit done to the situation of the adopted girls, none of which was registered in a school?
It us hurts to think or to imagine that everything talks each other of a cloudy business in which many persons are involved, to the detriment of the children for that there wait a mother or a father who should adopt them.
We believe that it is time to open an investigation not only to meet on the persons in charge of this case, in which three girls went to stop to the hands of a criminal, but to sanction them severely, in order to avoid that we comment on cases as that happen again. |
