Recent facts, since the retirement of important made nominations weeks behind for the president Barack Obama for high charges in the office of his government must make us reflect. Two recognized leaders, the ex-chief of the majority in the Senate Tom Daschle – nominated to be a Secretary (the minister) of Health - and Nancy Killefer – who had to turn into the first general overseer of the new administration - they withdrew for proper decision his nominations, “so that these cases do not turn into a distraction or an obstacle in the Obama engagement book”, according to themselves they adduced. Both were facing fiscal problems: the first one, with debts for more than 120.000 dollars in taxes; the second one, for not having paid labor taxes for his domestic personnel throughout year and a half.

The decision that they took it was the only thing that could wait for a truly surprised public opinion. But we believe that they made it too much late. This decision they must have taken it in the same moment in which the president Obama did the proposal to them and not wait so many weeks to recognize his error. Nevertheless, it is worth while clarifying, the guilt was exclusively of the nominated ones, since they knew in advance the debt problems to the treasury that they had between hands and that they could not solve on time, as if the common and current citizen does it.

The president Obama exactly gained the election of November 4 hoisting the flags of the honesty, the integrity and especially the ethics, with that enrostró to the previous administration of the president Bush. Under the motto of “Change“ it managed to overturn in his favor to immense most of the electorate, full of the financial and political scandals of the previous government. That's why, on Wednesday, the 4th it defined publicly his position on these deplorable facts and said to the mass media that such nominations were an error, although with generosity it did not formulate personal accusations.

For the good of the nation we hope that the same history should not recur with nominated futures, who must accept a charge if really they are considered to be suitable and cleanly ethical to assume them. The worst thing would be that together with the economic destruction through that we are living we could not escape from an ethical crisis that we have already suffered it for facts of corruption, fraud and greed. We believe that also in this aspect it is time to begin the change, but without wasting time.
