His name-Creigh Deeds - is not much known between the Hispanics yet. But his actions have turned it, from several years behind, into a leader of our community into the state Senate of Virginia, where he is one of his most out-standing members.
Deeds, at his 51 years, is the candidate of the Democratic Party for Governor of Virginia in the elections of next Tuesday, the 3rd of November. His opponent is the republican Robert McDonnell.
In these elections many things are in game, especially the prestige of the party today in the power, which gained the elections-year ago-old personal details taking the democratic candidate of that time Barack Obama for the presidency. And to sorrow that the same party swept in Virginia in this occasion, the surveys point out that now there is a balance of forces much closed between two opponents.
It is there where the Latin vote begins to carve that, as a well-known activist indicates it in this edition, it can be decisive to determine the winner of the elections.
But: why should the Hispanic electorate vote for Deeds?
There are many reasons, between them his opposition to all the antiimmigrant law came from the state Chamber of Delegates. His intervention made to "die" (it finished them) to these proposals, which were going against our community and the immigrants in general. There is known his rejection to establish in Virginia the program 287 (g), that grants faculties to the police to ask the arrested for his migratory state.

Also, in his campaign he has promised to intensify the approach of the local and state government with the Latin community, in order that he makes use of the million dollars that exist in contracts to execute different works and activities in Virginia, “and where regrettably the Latin community is not seated in the table”, as makes sure the candidate.
Also, Deeds has surrounded himself with Latin Americans like part of his campaign, with advisers of this origin, and has looked for the approach of the community, with volunteers on time I complete in the mítines and acts of collection of funds.
A last sample button: his public support to the nomination of the jueza Sonia Sotomayor for the member's charge of the Supreme Court. His opponent, for contrast, he did not say a word on this matter.
The letters – or the votes - are on the table. Washington Hispanic, like spokesman of the Hispanic community, endorses the candidacy to Governor of Virginia de Creigh Deeds. We hope that our electorate should not waste this historical opportunity and on Tuesday, the 3rd of November come in mass to the centers of voting to make to feel his electoral force.
