From 1989, every July 11 the World Day of the Population is celebrated, anniversary that it was instituted to remember the date July-11, 1987 - in that the world population reached five billion inhabitants.
At the end of this edition we exceed six thousand seven hundred seventy million inhabitants in the planet, and it must serve to us to mention to one of the fundamental requisites opposite to the population problem: the recognition of the basic human right to determine frees and responsibly the number and the discharging of the children, gaining access to the information and procedures of familiar planning shared between men and women, as well as to the necessary services of sexual and reproductive health to be able to exercise this right.
Precisely to commemorate this date, the Fund of Population of the United Nations (UNFPA, for his initials in English), has elected as a topic: "To carry investments in the women out it is an intelligent option”. On this matter, Thoraya Obaid, executive director of the UNFPA, points out that “there is no any other more intelligent investment and that it should have so high economic and social yield, that the investments in the health and rights of the adolescent girls and the women in the whole planet”.

This message is offered in moments of increasing worry by the current global economic crisis, which threatens especially the advances achieved by the developing countries in aspects like the education and the health. “This will affect seriously the women and the girls”, warns Obaid.
It is a really difficult situation, which is even reflected in this big country where we live, where budget for the difficulties they have determined severe cuts in help services to the community and that, hence, also strike the Hispanics.
The solution consists in increasing the social investments, according to the executive director of the UNFPA, thinking that “the investments in the women and the girls will pave the way, not only for the economic recovery, but also for a long-term economic growth that reduces the absence of equity and the poverty”.
Washington Hispanic takes the word, especially when he says that “in these difficult times, there is no more intelligent investment”. Together we will be able to achieve that this day is the last one in which 1.440 women lose the life in this space, immediately after the pregnancy and the childbearing. Let's advance with the message: "No woman should lose the life on having given birth” and let's do all the possible to promote the right of every woman to enjoy a life dignity, health and equal opportunity.
