Poor Mexico! So close to the United States, that far of the White House! This week, with big drum and saucer, the President Bush commemorated the month of the Hispanic heredity, meeting in the gardens of the White House with the high lineage of the Hispanic society, including the legendary Cuban musician Israel “Cachao“ López. Even ex-attorney general Alberto Gonzáles resuscitated to receive a welcome and the approval of perhaps one of the few ones in Washington that is not shamed of meeting in public with the polemic ex-chief of the Department of Justice. Moreover, his “big friend” said to him. Less evil that the president Bush confirms to him his big friendship the same week in which there filters a memorandum where it is seen that Gonzáles secretly had authorized certain tactics of interrogation recognized as torture for the rest of the world, except the American government, simultaneously that was denouncing them in public. Less evil.
Under the brilliant and beautiful sun, the president Bush quoted the thousand and contributions of the increasing Latin community, and he was grateful for the presence of the Latin-American ambassadors. Very well, those who could enter. In spite of carrying an invitation to the event, the diplomats came, between them the ambassador of Mexico Arturo Sarukhán, to the large door of the White House and the guards said to him “who plow you?” Neither Sarukhán nor some others were appearing in the list, and in spite of the insistence of these diplomats who yes were the cache memory people and yes they were it sufficiently important to spend a few minutes with the first American chief, the guards said to him "sorry", here you do not enter. The whole confusion armed itself in the entry, with the diplomats saying that the only thing that was missing is that they were putting them in the list, and already.
But since they can imagine, this way the White House does not work. Anyone that wants to enter at least hours earlier has to name and other excellent information so that it happens for a safety process. In general, nobody can enter the White House without the guarantee of the Secret Service, and also there have to be guarded at all times that are inside. That thing about to go to patrol for the corridors simply does not happen. This way always it has been, and even more from the offenses of 2001. The process for foreigners takes more time, for obvious reasons.
Supposedly the people of the diplomatic corps would not have to happen for this process that the current people touch us to us. And certainly they have personnel to process this type of things, so that this high Latin-American lineage could come to the large door and enter like Pedro his house. Some ambassadors, of Peru and Panama, for example, yes could enter, but the poor person of Mexico, dressed and excited, remained out. Pobrecito.
