Tiger Woods confirmed on Wednesday, the 18th that will not play this period again due to an injury in a knee that will need another operation.
Woods surrendered to an intervention to clean a cartilage on April 15 and later he suffered a fissure when he was preparing to reappear in the circuit. The injury caused him inconveniences during the Open sea of the United States, but it did not prevent him to gain the tournament after overcoming Rocco Mediate, after 19 tiebreak holes on Monday, the 16th.
The magnitude of the injury gives him major relevancy still to the conquest of his 14to title Major on the part of Woods, especially bearing in mind that the joust needed five days of competition and a whole of 91 holes.
“ Now, it is clear that the correct thing is to listen to my doctors, to go forward with the operation and to concentrate my attention in rehabilitating my knee”, said Woods, according to a declaration hung on his Internet portal.
Woods was seen in public for last time when it moved back from the field of Torrey Pines, limping in a visible way, in the direction of the parking area with the champion's trophy.
“ Although I will get lost the rest of the period of 2008, I am fascinated by the fact that last week it was a special tournament”, said Woods.
Woods managed to play seven tournaments this period, cattle five. A tournament Major will get lost (that of Great Britain) for the first time in his career and it will not be able to be in the Cup Ryder of September.
It will be his third surgery in five years in his left knee, although Wood emphasized that the doctors guaranteed a positive result.
On Monday, the 16th, when they asked him after gaining the title if it had been exhibited to aggravate the condition of his knee for Open to play in the US, Woods answered that "perhaps".
