It was a goal difficult to overcome. Roland Emmerich, the same one that it put to the world in danger with “Day of the independence” and “The day after tomorrow”, proposed to do to himself a new movie of disaster, more spectacular still that his predecessors. Well, and although it seems impossible, next to “2012“ those tapes turn pale. Along intense 158 minutes, the spectators are witnesses of the destruction of a new gallery of tourist milestones: Christ of Rio de Janeiro, the White House, the city of Las Vegas, the Himalayas and up to the very same Vatican.
Nevertheless, the most impressive thing is well-known area: California. The same state as Emmerich devastated in “The day later...” here yes that is destroyed opposite to the cameras. John Cusack leads the group of survivors that, on board of a light aircraft, must avoid highways disappearing and buildings collapsing. The reason: the Mayan prediction that points out that 2012 finishes the world turns out to be true. The actor interprets Jackson Curtis, a writer who knows to a radial announcer (Woody Harrelson) who provides it with the catastrophe that is still to come. Jackson does not believe him until a series of earthquakes around him convinces it that the announcer was in the true thing.
The tape also continues the adventure of another personage, the scientist Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who several years before the disaster warns the government of the USA that initiates a secret plan to assure the continuity of the species, constructing gigantic arks capable of resisting the cataclysm.
