To make to laugh is the whole art. It is not easy for the one that has always to be employed at that, but even more difficult it is to make to laugh and receive the attention of the public with a staging where the history is present at all times. “The Real History of Coca-Cola in Mexico” – an ironic comment about the problems of the globalization and the negative effects (social and cultural) that cause the multinationals out of the United States - it manages with many simplicity to get connected with the public and to move them to the Mexico of the XIXth century.
The two only personages of the work, Aldo (represented by Jaime Carrillo) and Pat (Daniel Eichner) – in almost one hour and a half - multiple personages interpret ingeniously and they give him life to a history infested with strokes of false morality and "political" reflections. In his plot, the young actors achieve that the public accompanies them in his trip towards Mexico on the target to do a documentary that denounces the invasion of Coca-Cola in the Mexican society.
The actors parody the stereotypes of the globalization accepted by the Mexican society. In the first part Pat and Aldo with intelligence do a historical inventory of as Coca-Cola came to Mexico. Into the second part (much more agile and entertaining than the first one) without realizing they turn partly of the problem and end up by abusing the poor Mexicans who helped them in his project.
The efficacy of the work is in the domain (dynamics) scenic that the actors achieve and simplicity of lease in which they created the history. The play - in English with subtitles in Spanish – is directed by Puerto Rican José Carrasquillo and written by Aldo Velasco and Patrick Scott. Be going to see it.
