Another side of a sleep

More than thousand persons help to premier

The typical red carpet extended last July 25 in the auditorium Corpus Christi in Falls Church for the premier of the Movie “Another side of a sleep”, directed by Roberto Catacora. More than thousand persons could attend the entry of the cast and of course the awaited movie realized in the area with local artists.

A strong thunderstorm seemed to contain even the arribo of all the actors and the team of production of the movie. In a festive ambience in the antechamber of the auditorium finished families could chat with the producers and artists, enjoy the musical animation responsible for Jorge Zurita and finally occupy his seats waiting for the début.

For many present Salvadorans it was an agreeable surprise to admit that it them was transporting the first images of the movie to a trip that began with the nervous steps of the protagonist Pedro (Luis Lazo) from his house towards the terminal of buses of San Salvador. The crying of Pedro's mom (the first Salvadoran actress Mercedes Flores) silences with the engines of the Central American city, and with the simultaneous story of Marian, (Maria Mirta Vargas) joins of Pedro. The voice of Marian comes from a letter that she writes to his brother to warn him that what he is on the point of doing is not so easy as seems. “ Not everything is as they paint it”, he says Marian in an apologetic voice; but finally he feels the happiness of “soon having family surrounds”. The voice of Marian seems to lull in Pedro's mind who embarks been stubborn, in coming to the United States.  Since the coloring of the world in development, the ways without paving turn slowly into the North American desert where we can discern Pedro between a typical group of clandestine, moribund travelers, who slowly touch the engaged ground.

“ Here is the good thing, there are the words mocker of the host of Pedro, the coyote that will have to leave him to him and to the group of the immigrant the injured parties in the center of the capital of the United States. Pedro, so high as his moral values and his sensibility, does that we feel every moment of his passage. His cuestionadora but humble look interns us in the deepest of the heart of any undocumented immigrant who in some moment of his experience had to swallow the tears and the pride, lower the head and work; although that constitutes to beg for work, but for not money.

The passage of Pedro, the sube and fall that constitutes changing suddenly the soil, it is a mirror of million persons in this country. “It is the history of each of us”, was saying Juan Pablo García, one of the assistants on having concluded the movie. “I cried so much”, was saying Marta Luz Novoa and was continuing “it was as to vent me and to count myself my history”. It is not easy to contain the tears when we see turned into protagonists of the giant screen human beings who live in the anonymity, relegated to a citizen's condition of the second class. It is not difficult to admit that in any industry, in any place there is a Latin face that with or without documents it helps to build and to sustain to this country. Working.

“ It is a happiness that it upsets” there was saying the Roberto Catacora Director of “Another side of a sleep”, to see so many people congregated here. “East is really a big country”, was saying Catacora directing to the hearing minutes for him after the function. “The fact is that here we learn to love more”, to value what does not have price, our family, our values, all that that nourishes our nostalgia and what impels us to go out forward in a foreign ground” it was adding.

Between some of the accents of “Another side of a sleep”, it was provided also with the participation of personalities so distinguished in the Hispanic community of the metropolitan area of Washington like the Father Eugenio Hoyos; and more than one person went out humming the principal topic of the movie, “betrayed Sleep” of Andy Dular.

Latin was Measuring International Inc producing house of the movie, he says to keep on answering called asking when we will be able to see it, again. The answer: in any moment. And the fact is that we all agree that a production of this nature, so ours and so local, deserves to be seen again! “Two thumbs up”, was the general comment the excellent American expression that raises two thumbs to indicate the taste and the welcome to this movie.
