A plane of US Airways fell down on Thursday, the 15th on the river Hudson after colliding with birds that ruined his two engines, but rescue brigades managed to extract his 155 passengers and crew members before the ship it was sinking.
Laura Brown, spokesman of the Federal Administration of Aviation, affirmed that the flight 1549 had just detached Thursday of the airport of LaGuardia in route to Charlotte, North Carolina, when the accident took place in the river close to the street 48 to half of Manhattan.

The plane, an Airbus 320, detached at 3:26 p.m. and fell down less than three minutes later, pointed out Brown.
" There were witnesses' reports of which the plane might have collided with a birds parvada", indicated the spokeswoman. "In this moment we do not have another indication of which this has been another thing that an accident", it added.
The plane was immersed in the frozen waters up to the windows when rescuers came on board of vessels of the Coastal Guard and ferries, they opened the door and extracted of the ship the passengers who were already carrying yellow lifebelts. Some passengers should have waited standing in a wing with the water up to the knees until they were rescued.

The fuselage of the ship seemed intact, and later this one sank in waters almost frozen in one of the days more colds of the period in New York, with seven degrees centigrade under zero (20 degrees Fahrenheit).
" We have had a miracle in the Hudson", the governor David Paterson declared. The National Meeting of Safety in the Transport investigates the case.

A victim fractured two legs, said a paramedic, but there were no immediately other reports on serious injuries.

There were police officers who rescued some of the passengers under the water, pointed out mayor Michael Bloomberg. Between those who were traveling there was a baby who apparently is well, it added.

" It seemed that the pilot realized a magisterial maneuver to land the plane in the river, and then to make sure that they all should go out", expressed Bloomberg.

The passenger Jeff Kolodjay said that he listened to an explosion two or three minutes after the blast-off. To the glance for a window of the left side, it saw that one of the machines was burning.

" The captain said 'be prepared for an impact because we are falling down ''', reported Kolodjay, and added: "It was intense. It was intense. It is necessary to recognize the pilot. It had a big landing".

An official, who spoke in anonymous form because the investigation is in march, identified the pilot as Chelsey B. Sullenberger III, of 58 years. A woman answered the phone and then it hung when the AP asked to speak with Sullenberger family in Danville, California.

The governmental authorities do not believe that the incident was related to the terrorism.
" At the moment there is no information that it indicates that it is a question of an incident related to the safety", said the spokeswoman of the Department of Interior Safety Laura Keehner.

The spokesman of the trade union of air-traffic controlers, Doug Church, said that one of the pilots brought a "double blow of bird" to approximately 457 meters (1.500 feet) of height almost a minute after detaching and requested permission for an immediate emergency landing.

To 15 days of the elections in El Salvador
They will check precedents of legal residents

From January 18 all the foreigners, including the legal residents of the United States that carry the called "Green Card", will have to present his traces and they will be photographed before the immigration official whenever they deposit the United States. This way any criminal precedent of the person will be checked in an automatic way and it will stay to determination of the official of immigration if the foreigner, this way is a permanent resident it can deposit the United States or it is deported to his country.

This new measured form part of the extension of the program known as US-Visit (US Visitor and Status Indication Technology) established by the Department of National Safety in 2003 with the intention of verifying the identities and the validity of the documents that the foreigners carry.

Under this new measurement the biometric information obtained across the program US-VISIT is compared in a gigantic database that several agencies share, between them the service of immigration (USCIS), the Federal Office of Investigations (FBI), the Central Agency of Intelligence (CIA), the local agencies of police officer (state and municipal) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

The system was enabled for the first time in December, 2003 and from April, 2004 it began to work in each of 115 airports and in all the marine ports, with an initial budget of $ 380 million dollars, but only it was affecting foreigners who were depositing legally the United States.

According to the Department of Internal Safety, on having expanded the categories of the foreigners who will have to present his biometric information, he answers to reasons of public and national safety. For his part the lawyers point out that it will affect million legal residents that although they committed a felony and fulfilled his condemnations, his criminal history has not been erased of the systems for what it will be detected by the official of immigration, who finally will be who decides if it can enter or not to the country.

A felony is a serious crime that bears at least a year of jail, but according to the specialists the list of crimes or crimes that they might be considered is long between those who are: theft, domestic violence, sexual assault, to take part of a street fight with a few glasses the others, possession of drugs, to carry a weapon with intention of using it, between others.

For such a reason they recommend, before going out of the country, to consult a lawyer and if it committed some felony verify that the charges have been erased of his criminal record, which also will depend on the state or city where the crime was committed.

The foreigners who are added to the list of those who will have to present his biometric information in the entry ports to the United States are the residents permanents, those persons who think about how to be adminitidos in the United States.

They ask executive of Montgomery to reconsider to act of the police
They do last attempt to prevent police officer from investigating migratory status

A coalition of Latin activists headed by the delegate Ann Sol Gutiérrez met the chief of the police of Montgomery, Thomas Manger and authorities of the judicial system to demand major precision from them on the new measurement that would grant powers to the police to ask for the migratory status of the arrested.

During the last weeks this topic has caused confusion and fear between the immigrant community, which immediately related this situation to what one lives in the county of Prince William in the state of Virginia, the true thing is that the proposal is and comes on behalf of the attorney and the chief of the police of Montgomery, but there is nothing definite.

“ One does not exist proposed in writing, what yes worries us is that a strong tendency has grown in Montgomery to give more powers to the police so that they ask for the legal status of the persons and the chief of the police is fixed in his position”, he declared Washington Hispanic, Ann Sol Gutiérrez.

“ We agree that the whole weight of the law falls down against the immigrants who have committed crimes and that is already stipulated by law. But to define the migratory status of a person is very difficult more if it is not trained to do it”, added Gutiérrez.

Apparently this situation broke loose then that develara that at least half of the crimes happened in Montgomery had been perpetrated by undocumented immigrants and that even some of them had certain criminal precedents.

“ The chief of the police alleges that if these persons had been deported when one detained them for the first time the frightful crimes had not happened. But, this does not do any more that to demonstrate that it is necessary to check the judicial system and to realize the changes that are necessary instead of giving authority to the police to investigate for the legal status of a person. This situation will only generate fear between our community and will raise a barrier that the communication will prevent with the police”, tells Ann Sol Gutiérrez.

They prepare recommendations

The last word before this new measurement will have the executive of the county, Isiah Leggett for what the coalition is preparing a list of recommendations to prevent this new measurement from being started.

Between the recommendations they indicate the importance of checking the judicial processes and they will highlight the importance of supporting a good relation between the police and the community so that this way the crimes are brought and one collaborates in the clarification of the cases.

“ We are giving the final step so that the Executive listens to us because the pressure of the antiimmigrant groups is strong. The será who takes the decision in order month. The same way we do called the community so that it interferes and makes his letters come and they express his opinions. The immigrants we are not criminal and if anybody commits a crime it must face the consequences, but this is a task of the judicial authorities not of the police”, Ann Sol Gutiérrez finished.
