The friend of the Hispanics dies
Kennedy: continue in the struggle (1932 - 2009)

Edward “Ted“ Kennedy died the night of Tuesday, the 25th of August, in his house of Boston, Massachussets. It had 77 years of age, 47 of them as member of the Senate. His burial will be realized this Saturday, the 29th. photo: AP.

At the age of 77 years, after fighting bravely and for fifteen months against a fearsome cerebral evil, on Tuesday, the 25th there died Edward (Ted) Kennedy, "León del Senado" and maker of hundreds of laws that today apply in the nation and that benefit to the citizenship in general.
In the Latin community, the Kennedy death caused stir and sadness. The democratic senator, who remained in the charge for 47 years, was one of the big sponsors of the integral migratory reform, I project that it failed, but that did not make it desist and, on the contrary, it urged the Hispanic activists not to allow to win and to keep on fighting “up to making this sleep real”.
The president Obama, leaders of two parties in the Congress and local and world leaders united in emphasizing the trajectory of Ted Kennedy, whose burial will be this Saturday, the 29th, in the Arlington cemetery.

Edward's death (Ted) Kennedy, although waited, it caused stir and sadness in the political world, which remembers it like a legendary legislator and the last surviving brother of the political dynasty that more influenced the recent history of the nation.
Kennedy, senator for Massachussets, died on Tuesday, the 25th victim of a cerebral cancer in his house in Cape Cod. He was 77 years old.
The president Barack Obama interrupted his holidays in Massachussets to pronounce a few words of duel, in which it praised Kennedy as “a singular figure” in the American political history.
“ Although we knew that this day would come, were waiting for it with supreme sorrow”, said Obama. “For his family, he was a guard; for the United States, he was the defender of a sleep. His struggle gave us the opportunity that was denied to us when they reaped the life to his brothers John and Robert: that of having the sacred time to be grateful to him and to say to him good-bye”, added the chief.
Kennedy was an intense activist in favor of liberal causes – like the biggest access to the systems of health, the struggle against the poverty and the rights of the immigrants and of the minorities - for his more than 50 years in the legislative body of Washington. He was a brother of John F. Kennedy, the president murdered in Dallas in 1963, and of Robert Kennedy, who was a secretary of Justice and who also lost the life before the bullets, in 1968.
In almost half a century in the Senate, Kennedy met 10 presidents and accumulated an impressive list of legislative achievements on the subject of health, civil rights, education, immigration and other areas.
Heir of the most powerful and fascinating political family of the United States during the XXth century, was erected in a paladin of the hard-working class, printing his stamp on a wide legislation body.
“ In five decades, practically every important part of a legislation to improve the civil rights, the health and the economic well-being of the American people had his name and it was a fruit of his efforts”, affirmed the president.

For the White House
Kennedy was mentioned often like potential presidential candidate. But it left aside any aspiration to the White House after a frustrated attempt in the primary ones of 1980, and it never tried to continue again the steps of his brothers John and Robert.
On having closed this campaign, it planned the footpath of his future politician in a speech that many people consider to be his most significant message.
“ For me, some hours ago, this campaign touched to his end”, declared in that one then. “For all those ones whose well-being has been our worry, the work continues, the cause lasts, the hope is still alive and the sleep will never die”, it pronounced itself.

The last battle
They diagnosed a cancerous cerebral tumor in May, 2008 and it had several surgeries as well as an intense treatment of radiation and chemotherapy. Last summer returned surprisingly to the Congress to express an important vote for the democrats on the health insurance for pensioners (I will medicate).
In January of this year it was present in the capture of possession of his companion Obama, the first black president of the nation, but it had a crisis during the commemorative lunch after the ceremony.
The Kennedy death produced two weeks to itself after that of his sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Kennedy was not present in the funeral since his state of health was quite serious.

The last survivor
Ted Kennedy was the most visible figure like the last surviving brother of Kennedy, the patriarch of a family upset more than once by personal tragedies.
It consoled the widow of his brother, Jacqueline, when John was murdered in 1963.
Later dque another brother, Robert Kennedy, was murdered when president was postulated in 1968, Ted happened to be the paternal figure for his nephews.

Along with his two brothers
The coffin with the remains of Edward Kennedy will be buried in the National cemetery of Arlington, in Virginia, this Saturday, the 29th.
There are five members of the family Kennedy buried there: John F. Kennedy; his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy; his son Patrick, who lived two days, and unborn other. Ex-senator Robert Kennedy F. Kennedy is buried at short distance.

Andy Stern, president of the SEIU: "In the America of Senator Kennedy, every family has access to the care of health, every worker has his check to support to his family and an insured retirement, every child has right to a quality education and every immigrant can reach the American sleep … The America of senator Kennedy is our America. It is the America of the nurse of Pittsburgh, the worker of cleanliness of Miami and of the manager of the children's care in Maine. This is the America for which the SEIU members we keep on fighting.

Tim Kaine, president of the Democratic Party:
"With the death of senator Ted Kennedy today we are sorry about the loss of one of the biggest and consistent political figures in the history of America. The senator was adored by million Americans and he respected by companions of both parties for his energy, his passion, his humor, his compassion, his friendship and especially by his commitment for serving to his country in reaching the common good for every American …”.

I center for the Community Change, organization founded in memory of Robert F. Kennedy: "Today our hearts are dismayed by the whole family Kennedy, and we are afflicted by our nation, which has lost irreplaceable someone. Tomorrow we will do what senator Kenedy did often in his life after the tragedy: we will re-focus in the reform of health, the migratory reform and a just economy. In the words that it used on having finished his campaign to the presidency of the United States in 1980: "The work continues, the cause resists, the hope stays alive and sleep they must never die”.

Janet Murguía, president and CEO of the National Council of The Race (NCLR): "No senator in the history has supported any more legislations to improve the lives of our community that Senator Kennedy. It turned into the representative of many Hispanics. It has been at the head of each of the big debates that affect the community, including civil rights, increase of educational opportunities for persons who have barriers with the English language, improving the health system and in the struggle for a comprehensive migratory reform”.

The nerves betrayed a woman who came close to the midnight of Monday, the 24th to the International Airport Thurgood Marshall of Baltimore - Washington (Maryland), in an international flight proceeding from Jamaica. She began to answer in an incoherent way to the questions of one of the inspectors and the officials of the customs decided to check it.

For minor inflation
They will pay less to pensioners

Million retired persons will receive smaller checks of the Social security next year because the inflation has diminished.
The government supports that the inflation has diminished in the nation and that therefore there is no need to increase the checks of the given a pension ones in the next two years, anything that had not happened since the automatic increases began in 1975.
In accordance with the law, the benefits of the Social Insurance cannot diminish, but the monthly payments might be minor for thousands of persons subscribed to the program of medical attention I will medicate, since the premiums, which in general are deduced of the payments of the Social Insurance, will increase lightly.
“ For any persons this would not be a problem, but for the elders, especially those with medical expenses, it is a big problem”, supported Barbara Kennelly, democratic ex-conferee and director of the National Commission of for the Preservation of the Social security and I will medicate.
The adjustments in the checks for the given a pension ones are index-linked to the inflation, which was negative last year principally because the costs of the energy ones have diminished.
But the experts indicate that the persons have still to face higher prices since they spend a disproportionate quantity of his income in health services, which costs increase more rapid than the inflation. Also many people have suffered a devaluation of his hearths and a reduction in the income of financial values, on which they depend for his revenue.
